2006 Mini-Con
2006 NEDiv Mini-Con
The mini-con will be held on Nov 10-12 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, in Cherry Hill, NJ. On-line registration is available (as well as more info) at 2006 Mini-Con.
If you have never attended a mini-con or roundtable, this is the chance. See some of the inner workings of our Division of SCCA. Learn about the different specialties (through meetings with the chiefs), learn about driving Watkins Glen (from the Glen Region Chief Instructor). Enjoy a nice dinner, and meet lots of the folks who work behind the scenes so our region can have all that fun!
I hope to be involved in the Road Rally discussions this year. We will be planning the schedule for next year and possibly changing the scoring rules for the divisional series. Divisional awards will also be presented at the mini-con during the Saturday night dinner.

So now that the event is over, I have to say it was better than I had thought it would be, but never the less, it probably shouldn't have taken so much effort. Perhaps the racing program needs the time, but the rally program doesn't. The people are all good folks who have a shared passion, and the social part was worth the trip. I don't know if I will be going next year. I just don't see it as being worth the trip if it is really far away.
The biggest change this year for the rally program is the ability to earn bonus points for running rallys outside of your home region. A competitor will get a two point bonus if the hosting region is not thier own. The bonus will be increased to three points if the hosting region is outside of the competitors home area. This coupled with the national points for all rallies should help out a program like ours which is small and just starting out.
